Back in action.
At the top of your game.
proloTECH is a proprietary treatment program that combines the traditional practice of prolotherapy injections with nutritional supplementation and modern cell-based technology. This multilayered approach to therapy optimizes recovery from a variety of orthopedic afflictions with a focus on injuries to the knee and shoulder. All proloTECH injections are performed by a fully licensed physician (MD or DO) who is a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine and has specific training in prolotherapy and regenerative medicine.
Regenerative Injection Therapy
Regenerative Injection Therapy (RIT) is used to treat joint injury and degeneration, stimulating connective tissue repair. Ligaments and tendons are frequently the source of joint injury and the focus of treatment with RIT.
Prolotherapy began in the 1930's as the first method of regenerative injection therapy. In dextrose prolotherapy, a hyperosmotic solution is injected at the site of injury to trigger a localized inflammatory process. This targeted inflammation results in tissue repair, helping to heal injuries and strengthen the joints.
Modern technology has dramatically increased the efficacy of RIT through the use of cell-based therapies. These include autologous blood, fat, and marrow products taken from the patient's own body. Natural healing elements are isolated from these tissues and re-injected at sites of injury using techniques borrowed from traditional prolotherapy.
It is important that a physician who offers cell-based therapy be trained in the art of prolotherapy. PRP and stem cell treatment require proper injection technique for best results.
In many instances of knee and shoulder injury, surgery is essential for full recovery. However surgery is not always necessary and it is often insufficient.
Regenerative injection therapy provides athletes with another option.
All-Natural, Cell-Based Therapies
A key component of proloTECH treatment is the use of dextrose prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, autologous bone marrow concentrate, or amniotic tissue allografts.
These interventions take advantage of the body's native healing process. By concentrating the body's natural growth factors and healing agents in the area of injury, regeneration is stimulated to strengthen the joints and optimize recovery.
Rather than simply relieving pain and masking symptoms, proloTECH therapy directly addresses the problem and enables the healing process without the need for drugs or surgery.
Regenerative Injection Therapy, including prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, and various stem cell treatments are technically unproven and considered "experimental." While anecdotal reports are excellent, they are alternative therapies and are not standard care in the United States.
When used to treat amenable conditions in appropriate patients, Regenerative Injection Therapy can be very effective. However, RIT is not a "miracle cure" for indiscriminate use on all conditions in any patient. Your proloTECH physician will determine whether or not you are a good candidate for treatment and help you to set realistic expectations.
